Expo Schedule & Activities

The Shades of Beauty Expo is the freshest and boldest health & beauty event to hit the Twin Cities and Central Arkansas! Each day will be jam-packed with activities and exhibitors! And, It's All About You! (Your health and beauty, that is.)  We are working hard to develop a schedule of activities that you will enjoy and plan to release a new date and schedule once it is safe to gather again.  In the meantime, take a look at the wonderful activities that we presented in 2017.

10:00am-12:00pm Ambassadors of Beauty Brunch featuring keynote speaker Miss USA 2016, Deshauna Barber Join us for brunch as we celebrate members of the Twin Cities community who work tirelessly to improve self-esteem among women and girls of color, minimize the health disparity gap, promote self-awareness, and encourage others to be the best that they can be.

12:00pm-6:00pm 2017 Expo Open: Guests Welcome and Registration

Health and Beauty Products Trade Mart (Corporate brands and Small Business Product Expo -Stamp your Passports!)

Free Stuff! Be sure to stop by for free massages and blood pressure screenings. The first 250 attendees will receive goodie bags of health and beauty product samples from brands from across the country.

Free Hands-only CPR Training taught by the American Heart Association at noon, 1p, 2p, 3p and 4p in booth #208.

Win Concert Tickets! When you arrive, be sure to grab your passport to fun! Visit each of the sponsors listed on the passport to receive your "stamp" and then submit your completed passport for a chance to win tickets to Usher at the MN State Fair on August 31st.

12:00pm-6:00pm Beautiful Like Me Coloring Contest (Kids Corner) Stop by the kids corner to create a colorful masterpiece and enter it into  the coloring contest. Winners in both the 9 and under age group and the 10+ age group will be awarded a family membership to the newly renovated Minnesota Children's Museum.

12:30pm-6:00pm Unique & Wonderfully Made (Workshops/Panels/Demonstrations - a prize will be given away at each session!

1:00pm-1:30pm Curvy Girl's Style Guide and Fashion Show (Main Stage) - Not all curvy women are curvy in the same places! Join LaToya Bell of Brilliant Chic as she shows you how to style your unique curves through shape-specific information and a demonstration using various curvy models and fashions from Coco's Fashions.

1:30pm-2:00pm Natural Hair and the Workplace (Main Stage) Tracy Sanders, Esq is an LA based expert on employment law and author of the book “Natural Hair In The Workplace: What Are Your Rights?”.  Individuals who have natural hair, transitioning to natural hair, or interested in natural hair topics should join us to understand their rights as they relate to federal and state employment discrimination laws in the United States. Employers and employees both will gain knowledge to help them work together for a happy and productive workplace.

2:00pm-3:00pm - Texture Talk with Tendai Morris (Main Stage) Do you know your hair texture? Understanding your hair texture category and the care your hair requires sets you up for realistic expectations and optimal results. Many women who have gone natural have given up on their natural out of frustration which stems from lack of understanding of what grows out of their head. Tendai will break down the 4 hair categories and subcategories with easy to understand/practical demonstrations. She will also provide tips for hydration and moisture balance because certain products and techniques work better in specific hair types. 

3:00pm - 4:00pm Being Superwoman: How To Do It All & Still Take Care Of Yourself (Main Stage) You are a wife, mother, daughter, sister, caregiver, employee, boss lady, and everything in between. You often play multiple roles and put your everything into each one of the roles you play. You are SuperWoman and you take care of everyone and everything . . . . . .but who is taking care of you? Join Jasmine Boudah, Sanni Brown, Essence Jones, Cindy Kaigma, and Kamisha Johnson as we discuss how to be on top of your game but still take care of you and your health both physically and mentally. 

4:30pm - 5:00pm Cooking with Caroline Carter (Main Stage) Join "The  Real Food Doctor", Caroline Carter as she whips up a dish, created by the American Heart Association, that proves eating healthy can be delicious. Be prepared to sample something amazing!
