The Shades of Beauty Expo is the freshest and boldest health and beauty event to hit the Twin Cities! The Shades of Beauty Expo was created for women of color who desire innovative, culturally-focused products and ideas for an enhanced (holistic) quality of life. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we have had to cancel our 2020 and 2021 events. Stay tuned, once it is safe to gather again, we will definitely be bringing something spectacular!

The Shades of Beauty Expo has a five-fold goal: Support small, woman, and minority owned businesses; Celebrate the essence of women of color; Educate women on strategies for self-care through healthy eating, physical fitness, regular doctor visits, and more; Inspire attendees by providing opportunities to learn techniques for better styling and general health; and Empower women to love who they are and provide information about available products and resources tailored to their unique health care and cosmetic needs. The Shades of Beauty Expo is a gathering of sisters sharing, discovering, and celebrating their total beauty!

SOBE will begin the day with the “Ambassadors of Beauty Brunch”, featuring for the first time, youth in the Twin Cities community who go above and beyond to promote diversity and encourage others in their schools and communities. Afterwards, the exhibit area will showcase a diverse exposition of small, minority, and woman owned businesses. The mission of The Shades of Beauty Expo is to inspire and empower Every Woman to be Totally Beautiful. It is our desire that attendees will leave the Expo inspired to embrace their unique beauty and equipped to take control of their health. Expo producer

The Shades of Beauty Expo is produced by Sherryln Thompson, the founder and CEO of Twin Cities based Highly Favored Events & Travel, LLC. She is a veteran event planner with a wide variety of experience, having produced and/or coordinated elegant weddings, private events, community festivals, fundraising galas, and elaborate corporate seminars and conferences. Sherryln recognized the challenge for people of color to find the right products for their hair, complementary makeup shades and overall products that embrace and celebrate their beauty. Thus, The Shades Of Beauty Expo was created to honor the beauty of women of color, and to offer an opportunity for attendees to learn new techniques for better hair and skin care, while gathering information about available beauty industry products which complement and cater to their unique skin types and cosmetic needs. Over the years, Sherryln recognized a need to celebrate black businesses while also addressing “beauty” from a more wholistic approach. She seeks to encourage women to love themselves from the inside out by caring for their bodies through healthy eating, physical fitness, regular doctor visits, and more.
